THE RAID POINT LOOT SYSTEM (RPLS) V1.5

What is it?

The Raid Point Loot System is one that allows a player to collect and accumulate raid points (RP) by attending and participating on dedicated raid days. Winter's Legacy operates on a 2 raid day schedule per week (Tuesdays and Saturdays.) Points will only be collected on these days by members of the guild (including unsworn.) These points can then be used by Full members to BID on items obtained from raids. All distribution of loot from guild raids will use this system. Certain items (key components, spells etc.) will be exempt from the bidding system (see below).

The Raid Points Officer (PO)

The PO (currently Grugu Castandbash) is responsible for the collection and assignment of RPs during a guild raid. The PO will use methods such as raid dumps every hour to keep track of which members are present. Points will be assigned only to members who are present during the raid dump. In the case that the PO is not able to attend a raid, an alternate officer will be delegated to perform this duty. The PO is ultimately responsible for the accurate and timely collection of raid points and to keep this information updated and accessible to members of the guild via the web page. Raid point totals for each member must be readily accessible to all members prior to any given raid day.

How do I earn raid points?

You earn RPs simply by attending and participating on dedicated raid days (Tuesdays and Saturdays). The amount of RPs you earn depends on a few factors:

The method to be used is as follows:

When a raid's scheduled start time is reached, currently 5pm CST on Saturdays, 8pm CST Tuesdays, any officer may announce a raid dump imminent.  This will usually be :10 to :20 after the hour, depending on the number of people present.

From that point forward, until the end of the raid, a raid dump occurs each and every hour after the first raid dump.

At the end of the raid, the PO will look at all the raid dumps, and you recieve 1 RP for each time your name appears in a raid dump.

Bonus Points? How are they earned?

If and only if you are successful on the raid (killed the target or successfully completed the event/objective), the P.O. will do an extra raid dump, and each person on the raid at the time of completion earns one (1) extra raid point.

How do I spend raid points for items?

Winter's Legacy uses an OPEN NO-TIME-LIMIT BIDDING SYSTEM to handle distribution of all rewards gained on raid events.

The Open Bidding System (process explained)

What am I responsible for as a member using this bidding system?

The Points Officers and Lotto Master will have a master record sheet that shows point totals for all members, however, YOU are Ultimately responsible for checking the web page and knowing your current updated total points. If you misplace a bid (overbid) and the error is later discovered, you will be penalized at the discretion of the officers and guild leader. This is VERY important so please keep yourself updated.

You are also responsible for making proper choices towards the types of items you need as upgrades. Just because you have a lot of points doesn't necessarily mean you should bid on everything that drops. Please be in good judgment of the types of items you are bidding for as upgrades and be aware that your guild mates might need it more than you.
It is YOUR responsibility to notify an officer if you were at raid but for some reason (link death, CoHing) were not credited for it

What about Alternate Characters? Can I bid for stuff for them?

Alt spending: Points are awarded to a main, not to any alts. A main can spend only up to 1/2 of his or her points (on any single bid) to bid on a piece of gear for an alt, rounded DOWN. So, if Vtull had 101 points, he could bid up to 50 of those points to buy Kazar something. This is to ensure mains have optimal chance at improvement while still allowing those willing to spend their points to upgrade their alts a chance as well. This will be under review.

To bid points for on an Alt, they must meet the following requirement(s):

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I buy more than 1 item a night?

A: Yes. You should be able to spend your points buying more than 1 item a night if you wanted to. With a system in place where you earn points that are used to buy loot, you should not be limited on how many pieces of loot you wanted to "buy" a night. It's like walking into a grocery store with a wallet full of greenbacks and the only checkout station says "limit: 1 item or less". Of course, if you get spend-happy and somehow manage to gulp up a few pieces of loot real fast, you will be reducing your point total equally fast as well :)

Q: So, you are saying that if I hardly ever attend raids, then my chance at getting awesome, uber loot is pretty much ZERO?

A: That is correct, for the most part. And that should make the people that are pulling their weight around here pretty happy. This loot system rewards people that come out to support the guild.

Q: Whose responsibility is it to make sure my name appears in a raid dump?

A: It's YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are at the raid, on time, and stay in the raid so that you get credited in each raid dump. If you go LD or need to re-log and miss a raid dump, the PO usually will make an automatic correction for you, but not always. So as a courtesy, please let the PO know after you come back from a LD so he can make a note that you were there (if he happened to do a raid dump while you were gone). Be aware that mistakes will happen, but that we'll do our best to correct them as we are made aware of them.

Q: Will there be records (copies) of every raid dump that gets done on our raids from now on?

A: Yes. The PO and at least one other officer are responsible for doing the raid dumps. Final standings are posted in the Unsworn Nights forum. Raid dump information (for raids going back to 24Jul2004) is easily accessed by any officer, should an inquiry or question about point totals arise. Going back and making corrections as needed is totally possible, should the situation arise.
