THE RAID POINT LOOT SYSTEM (RPLS) V1.5
What is it?
The Raid Point Loot System is one that allows a player to collect and accumulate raid points (RP) by attending and participating on dedicated raid days. Winter's Legacy operates on a 2 raid day schedule per week (Tuesdays and Saturdays.) Points will only be collected on these days by members of the guild (including unsworn.) These points can then be used by Full members to BID on items obtained from raids. All distribution of loot from guild raids will use this system. Certain items (key components, spells etc.) will be exempt from the bidding system (see below).
The Raid Points Officer (PO)
The PO (currently Grugu Castandbash) is responsible for the collection and assignment of RPs during a guild raid. The PO will use methods such as raid dumps every hour to keep track of which members are present. Points will be assigned only to members who are present during the raid dump. In the case that the PO is not able to attend a raid, an alternate officer will be delegated to perform this duty. The PO is ultimately responsible for the accurate and timely collection of raid points and to keep this information updated and accessible to members of the guild via the web page. Raid point totals for each member must be readily accessible to all members prior to any given raid day.
How do I earn raid points?
You earn RPs simply by attending and participating on dedicated raid days (Tuesdays and Saturdays). The amount of RPs you earn depends on a few factors:
- If you are present for each raid dump (being on time and leaving early affects your RPs)
- The length of the raid in hours (1 hour = 1 dump)
- Success or failure on target goals (possible bonus points)
The method to be used is as follows:
When a raid's scheduled start time is reached, currently 5pm CST on
Saturdays, 8pm CST Tuesdays, any officer may announce a raid dump imminent.
This will usually be :10 to :20 after the hour, depending on the number of
people present.
From that point forward, until the end of the raid, a raid dump occurs each and every hour after the first raid dump.
At the end of the raid, the PO will look at all the raid dumps, and you recieve 1 RP for each time your name appears in a raid dump.
Bonus Points? How are they earned?
If and only if you are successful on the raid (killed the target or successfully completed the event/objective), the P.O. will do an extra raid dump, and each person on the raid at the time of completion earns one (1) extra raid point.
How do I spend raid points for items?
Winter's Legacy uses an OPEN NO-TIME-LIMIT BIDDING SYSTEM to handle distribution of all rewards gained on raid events.
The Open Bidding System (process explained)
- At the end of each encounter of a target mob, the Lotto Master of the raid will announce a warning that bidding will commence in the channel WLLOOT
- At this time, all members who are eligible and wish to enter the bid process for an item must be in this channel. You will keep this channel Clear of all
unnecessary chatter
- A grace period may be given for all corpses to be resurrected and LD people to log back in before the bidding process. The time for this will be under the discretion of the Lotto Master and must be within a realistic time frame for the raid situation at hand. Example: for cycle mobs during an
Emperor Ssraeshza encounter, only a few minutes may be given grace.
- The Lotto Master will clearly announce the start of bidding for Item_01. At this time, all eligible members will place their bids in the WLLOOT channel
- Only bids within the WLLOOT channel will be heard. If you mistakenly make a bid in /gu or /rs, it will not count
- Bids will continue until there is a noted pause between bids. At this time, the Lotto Master will
enumerate the bids until a final bid is reached. Example: 21, 23, 25... 25 going once... 25 going twice... Winner! [member] wins Item_01 at a cost of 25 points!
- The Points Officer and Lotto Master are responsible for ensuring all bids are accurate and only eligible members enter the bidding system. Points and items won will be recorded and
point standings will be posted on the web page following the raid
- Members may bid their points at their discretion and must not exceed their maximum recorded points
- Members may NOT bid an equal bid of another member. If someone bids 25, your next bid must be 26 or higher. There will be no cases of ties
- Members who lose their chances to bid due to LD's or other problems will have to live with it. This system is designed for ease and efficiency. Just remember that you will have other chances to bid and win so don't kill yourself over it
- Members MUST BE PRESENT from the initial time of engagement to be eligible to bid on the resulting loot.
- Class specific items such as spells and bard songs, runes, key components etc.
as well as Omens of War ALL/ALL runes will NOT use the point bidding system. They will be randomly lotted
between the classes/levels that can use.
- The loot you bid on MUST be useable by you. If the loot is not useable by you, you will be charged the points you bid on the item and the item will be bid on again.
- If the loot you bid on is lore resulting in duplicate items, you will be charged the points you bid on the item and the item will be bid on again.
- All bids are final and may not be retracted for any reason once submitted to
the loot channel.
What am I responsible for as a member using this bidding system?
The Points Officers and Lotto Master will have a master record sheet that shows point totals for all members, however, YOU are Ultimately responsible for checking the web page and knowing your current updated total points. If you misplace a bid (overbid) and the error is later discovered, you will be penalized at the discretion of the officers and guild leader. This is VERY important so please keep yourself updated. You are also responsible for making proper choices towards the types of items you need as upgrades. Just because you have a lot of points doesn't necessarily mean you should bid on everything that drops. Please be in good
judgment of the types of items you are bidding for as upgrades and be aware that your
guild mates might need it more than you.
It is YOUR responsibility to notify an officer if you were at raid but for some reason (link death, CoHing) were not credited for it
What about Alternate Characters? Can I bid for stuff for them?
Alt spending: Points are awarded to a main, not to any alts. A main can spend only up to 1/2 of his or her points (on any single bid) to bid on a piece of gear for an alt, rounded DOWN. So, if Vtull had 101 points, he could bid up to 50 of those points to buy Kazar something. This is to ensure mains have optimal chance at improvement while still allowing those willing to spend their points to upgrade their alts a chance as well. This will be under review.
To bid points for on an Alt, they must meet the following requirement(s):
- The Alt must be present on the raid AND meet our current level requirement
for full membership UNLESS the item is attuneable or
tradeable or as outlined in the bulleted point below. (example: Ornate Patterns, Attuneable items, etc.) With the advent of
Omens of War, the attunement system, and our progression into raiding Sol Ro,
epics, EP and beyond, circumstances have allowed us to open bidding for more non-attending alts.
- If a zone is considered to be on farm status only, no longer serves as a primary progression raid, main number restricted, and/or the act to be mentioned does not interfere with the continued flow of the current event, alts may be logged in at the completion of the winning bid. This is at the raid officers discretion and should be considered unique for each individual it pertains to for each individual event.
- We prefer that any drops we get go towards upgrading our members gear.
However, we cannot fully police a policy on equipment that is lacking a NO DROP
tag. We ask that you use your best judgment and be considerate of others.
Other things you should know
- This system is an ongoing process and will have changes periodically made to it as the officers work out the minor glitches. Please keep yourselves updated and informed
- Unsworn who are not eligible to bid for any items during their recruitment period, ARE allowed to accumulate points by attending raids just like any full member
- You may bid multiple times on a raid night on multiple items, as long as you have the points
- There is no going negative, e.g. you cannot bid with points you do not have
- Points earned on the CURRENT raid will NOT apply to your spendable totals until the following raid
- Officers may decide to default certain items (e.g. Bloodfrenzy to MT/ST). When this occurs, it be announced in advance when possible, and this rare circumstance will occur only when the guild leadership deems it is in the guilds best interest
- Raids points are only accumulated on scheduled raid nights (Tuesdays and Saturdays). Guild raids that occur on off nights will NOT award points to members.
Keys/Quest Items
- Key components and other special quest items will be a random lottery, starting with mains closest to finishing the stated goal getting first priority. Under no circumstances will a main be rolling against an alt or unsworn in a WL raid situation. Example: Comm3 drops and Unsworn_1, Grugu &
Vtull all need it, and it will be Vtull's last piece. The unsworn is automatically out of the picture. Of the 2 mains left, it will default to
Vtull.
- There are a few other exceptions to this policy: In the event a raid is planned specifically to obtain special quest items (e.g. epic drops) or pieces, the person
benefiting will not be charged points, nor will the person benefiting EARN
points until the next scheduled raid dump AFTER the successful completion of the
objective.
- Other rare or difficult components that drop unexpectedly and/or randomly
that result in armor, weapons, tradeskill goods, or spells such as heads, tears, gems,
scoriae, magnetized armor, etc are to be considered loot and bid on accordingly.
- Spells that drop will be deposited in the Winter`s Legacy spellbank.
Pre-Omens No Drop spells (e.g. Ancients) will be
lotted among the highest level class that can use it.
- ALL/ALL NO DROP runes that result in NO DROP spells/discs will be randomly
lotted between main members, starting with the highest level that can use them. If
a Greater Muramite Rune drops, any level 70 characters missing level 69
spells/discs will have priority. If a level 70 rune drops and all 70s have
their spells/discs, it will be lotted amongst 69s. For example, a Glowing Muramite
Rune drops and all level 70 people present at raid have their level 70
spells/discs, it would be lotted amongst all level 69 mains. This will
follow suit as needed (If we get a 69 rune, and all level 70 and level 69
members have their spells/discs,
it will be lotted to level 68 members.) Please keep yourself updated on which
runes you, personally, need.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I buy more than 1 item a night?
A: Yes. You should be able to spend your points buying more than 1 item a
night if you wanted to.
With a system in place where you earn points that are used to buy loot, you should not be limited on how many pieces of loot you wanted to "buy" a night. It's like walking into a grocery store with a wallet full of greenbacks and the only checkout station says "limit: 1 item or less". Of course, if you get spend-happy and somehow manage to gulp up a few pieces of loot real fast, you will be reducing your point total
equally fast as well :)
Q: So, you are saying that if I hardly ever attend raids, then my chance at getting awesome, uber loot is pretty much ZERO?
A: That is correct, for the most part. And that should make the people that are pulling their weight around here pretty happy. This loot system rewards people that come out to support the guild.
Q: Whose responsibility is it to make sure my name appears in a raid dump?
A: It's YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are at the raid, on time, and stay in the raid so that you get credited in each raid dump. If you go LD or need to re-log and miss a raid dump, the PO usually will make an automatic correction for you, but not always. So as a courtesy, please let the PO know after you come back from a LD so he can make a note that you were there (if he happened to do a raid dump while you were gone). Be aware that mistakes will happen, but that we'll do our best to correct them as we are made aware of them.
Q: Will there be records (copies) of every raid dump that gets done on our raids from now on?
A: Yes. The PO and at least one other officer are responsible for doing the raid dumps.
Final standings are posted in the Unsworn Nights forum. Raid dump information (for raids going back to 24Jul2004) is easily accessed by any officer, should an inquiry or question about point totals arise. Going back and making corrections as needed is totally possible, should the situation arise.
