WL News : Website Upgrade

Posted by Brahma on 2009/5/4 9:43:32 (2207 reads)

We have been using Xoops v1 RC 3.0.5 since we started the WL website (2003ish?). This was pretty much pre-release, pre-stable, beta software. Since then Xoops has gone through several MAJOR revisions and stable releases. I have attempted several times over the years to work on upgrades and pretty much every time I looked at the work that would need to be done and said 'I'll do it later'.

Later is here :p

I have spent the past 2 weeks (a good 30-40 hours or so) working on getting an upgrade path mapped out and the key features tested for getting us to the latest/greatest version of xoops and forum software. I think you will find some new nifty features, and as I have time I will be doing quite a bit of reconfiguration/setup so if something you want doesn't quite work yet, give me a day or two to get there and if it still doesn't work, PM (reminds me I need to install that module) me.

As of this moment the forums are there, all of our old posts are there, but I am still working on permissions (there is a LOT more to it now) so hopefully I will have them going here in the next few hours.

If you don't like the 'look' of the new site, sorry, going for functionality atm, will do a bit with the 'look' after everything is 'working'.

Hopefully at that point (and one of the reasons I wanted to get the upgrade done) I will be able to work on a RP module that will plug into the site and offer some neat features with your site account.
